Please tell our readers a little about yourself.

A:I am an author from Detroit, Michigan. I am a graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in psychology. I am a Family Therapist during the day. I'm also a avid fisherman! I love to bass fish during the spring and summer.

Could you tell us a bit about your book and why it is a must-read?

A: This story is based on a war between aliens and humans. The humans are losing and are about to be enslaved and eventually killed off. The aliens are looking for a ancient relic that may explain where do we all come from. It is a wild space opera with a lot of excitement! It's like a Indiana Jones meets Star Trek! It is also a bit of a love story mixed in with some mystery! There is something for everyone to enjoy even if you are not a science fiction fan!

What inspired you to write your book?

A: I loved being creative since I was a kid! When I was around 8, I used to gather my friends and kids in the neighborhood to shoot movies with my camcorder. I would write these elaborate scripts and direct my friends on how to act the scenes. I soon transited into writing this book. I actually wrote this book when I was 15. When I got into college, I put it on the back-burner. I still had the three notebook binders sitting in my closet for almost 20 years. It was time for me to resurrect this manuscript I was so passionate about and publish it!

What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?

A:It's funny, I found one of the most challenging things was to come up with a cover. I worked with so many graphic artist and it was difficult for them to see my vision for my book. In addition, I just wanted to construct a story that the audience could get involved in and enjoy.

Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

A: Before I stop writing for the day, I must at least complete a chapter or get half way through it.

How did you come up with the title for your book?

A: I wanted the title to relate to the premise of the story. When I first wrote it in 1995, the title I had back then was horrible and quite embarrassing. The title Origins was a perfect fit because it is what the story is about...the beginning of mankind and where we come from.

Is there a message you want your readers to take away from your book?

A: To have an open mind and decide for themselves what are the origins of the universe from their perspective. The book does delve into religious and controversial issues concerning where do we come from.

Do you have any advice for the yet-to-be-published writers reading this?

Continue to improve on your craft and be nice to your fans. If the traditional route of publishing does not go well for you, always look into self-publishing and creating ebooks. Also to never give up and do not be discouraged when you hit a road block. Just knock it down and push forward. Finally, market yourself as much as you can. Keep getting your name out there every chance you get and do it a lot! Marketing is so key to success!

What's next for you? What are you working on now?

A: I am writing the sequel to origins as we speak!

What is your preferred method to have readers get in touch with or follow you (i.e., website, personal blog, Facebook page, etc.) and link(s)?

A: Everyone can go to my website www.chrislaird.net.There they can find out more about the novel and all of my other projects. People can also go to my facebook fanpage www.facebook.com/chrislairdscifi/. Here they can interact with me daily and stay abreast of all of my latest projects, promotional material and to just get to know me and have a inside peek of my life.

In the 28th century, the human race finds itself embroiled in a pitiless and ferocious life-or-death struggle with an alien race which is resolved to destroy them.

The Ramassidors are not only malevolent, they are also highly advanced. There’s also something else about them, however. Concealed and obscure, they have an agenda which is higher than mere conquest.

Michael Stratford is part of Deltacore, the military force assigned to Interstellar combat. He is a genuine decorated war hero and the captain of the Horizon, but he knows that humanity is losing this fight and he wants answers.

As Stratford begins to question the war and the designs of the Ramassidors, he makes enemies who not only lie to him, but who also want him dead. And as he closes in on the truth he reveals something truly shocking.

What the Ramassidors want is horrifying and beyond belief. It answers the question that man has been asking since the beginning of time – what are the origins of the universe? And with the answer comes the sickening realization that the future of not only mankind, but of every other peaceful alien race in the Galaxy is under the deadly threat of extinction.
