Author Interview "LaToya Wright"

Please tell our readers a little about yourself. My name is LaToya Wright and I am 30 years old. I am a single mother of two beautiful daughters ages 9 and 2. Obviously, I like to read in my spare time, but I do love my drama filled and ratchet reality shows. They give me life as well as inspiration. Could you tell us a bit about your book and why it is a must-read? My book is based on a love triangle and is also centered around betrayal. This book is a must read because a lot of the events are based on things that have happened to me in my life being on both sides of the love triangle. Obviously, a lot of details are embellished, but it is honestly based on a few true stories put together to make one story. I believe the best urban fiction stories are those that are relatable and I believe every woman can find something in common with the women in this story. What inspired you to write your book? I was inspired to write this book by a situation I am currently going through. Now, my situation isn’t exactly like this one, but there are many similarities down to the game spit by my male character, Ezra. A lot of the things Ezra does and says are things I’ve experienced by someone that is dear to me. What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book? Writing about the love triangle from both sides was challenging only because I’m divorced and it dredged up old memories and wounds that I thought were healed. But, at the same time, it also fueled my fire. Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits? Actually, I really don’t have any quirky writing habits. Well, maybe I do. I like listening to music that inspires my scene. For example, if I’m writing about my character’s feeling of being in love, I like to listen to songs that are based on being in love. If I’m writing about club scenes or party scenes, I like to play trap music. If I’m writing about my female character being a dime, I like to listen to songs themed around it like some Beyonce or some Nicki Minaj. I think you are getting the picture! How did you come up with the title for your book? I came up with the title from something a male in my life said. I told him, “You have everything.” He responded based on previous conversations. “What good is being a boss and having everything if you can’t have the one thing money can’t buy!” Are you melting because I am!!! Is there a message you want your readers to take away from your book? Nope, this is purely entertainment. Indulge. Do you have any advice for the yet-to-be-published writers reading this? I know this is probably the advice they hear all the time. But the most important thing I could say is to study your craft like your life depends on it. Don’t just read urban fiction. Read all different genres to develop your descriptive writing skills. Also, what really helped me are books by Angela Ackerman to describe emotions. What's next for you? I will be finishing this series and starting on a new one. And after that, I will keep writing. So, basically stay tuned. I will have plenty of material coming to fill your kindles. What are you working on now? Part 2 of “Everything to a Boss” and part 3 of “Mz Miami: Her Rise to Power”. What is your preferred method to have readers get in touch with or follow you?
