Q&A

Please tell our readers a little about yourself.

My name is Ruben Belizaire, I am 25 years, I served in the navy for 4 years, I started writing in the 7th grade, I quit the wrestling team senior year due to a lack of passion and my coach told me to leave his weightlifting class so I did and I ended up in a creative writing class which gave me confidence to start sharing. Could you tell us a bit about your book and why it is a must-read?

My book is a collection of poems about love, relationships, betrayal, and treatment of woman. It deals with personal life stories turned into poems and others just learned. It is a journey as you read from beginning to end as the early chapter are from my younger days so as you continue reading the poems you grow with the book.

What inspired you to write your book?

I always wanted to write a book but I was working on a spy novel at first, one day in class a friend I met asked me about a poem I posted on Instagram and when he found out I had a whole bunch he suggest I turn it in to a book

What was the most challenging aspect of writing your book?

I always tried to follow rules and orders and it wasn’t working out for me, so I decided to write structure less and whatever came to mind. Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I have to be alone when I write. How did you come up with the title for your book?

The title “Broken” came to me because when you are reading these poems it seems like something is off like it’s broken as well as the tones of the poems being sad. Is there a message you want your readers to take away from your book?

The message I am trying to share with the reader is that we all go through these pain and experience but I feel like often we get it from a female point of view about how they have been wrong my a male. So I sharing a males view about knowing that he is wrong and should be better.

Do you have any advice for the yet-to-be-published writers reading this?

My advice is to keep on writing and don’t stop, I’ve taken so many breaks from writing that I regret it. If I hadn’t I could have had like 10 books by now. What are you working on now?

I am working on another poetry collection as well as a spy/romance novel 10. I would want reader to follow my Instagram @mz_thegentleman where I am active and response to all messages What is your preferred method to have readers get in touch with or follow you (i.e., website, personal blog, Facebook page, etc.) and link(s)?

Broken serves as it suggest, broken. Broken is a collection of poetry written by a 25 year old man still growing up and learning what life is about. This book is a guide of a young mans experience with love from a young age up until the present. Ranging from his first crush to betrayal, from being cheated on and lied to, to becoming cheater and liar. Every moment lock inside his head playing over and over again while trying to figure out where did he mess up. Only to realize that the answer to every question ends with a woman.
