Exclusive Interview

You recently published the book “7 Powerful Techniques for Effective Subconscious Communication” which teaches you how to communicate directly with a person’s subconscious mind to influence them more effectively. For those who are not aware, can you please explain exactly what subconscious communication is? Subconscious Communication is the ability to communicate with someone where you bypass the conscious mind. It is really speaking to someone at a level that is below what the conscious mind audibly receives, visually receives and so on. It is speaking to the aspect of the mind that is where all decisions are based. It’s where memory is stored and it’s where the emotions that drive decisions come from. What prompted you to write 7 Powerful Techniques for Effective Subconscious Communication? I felt the need for people to understand that there is always a better way to achieve influence, persuasion, and impression with the other individual they are communicating with. From my experience in sales and academic studies, I know this to be true. What kind of research, if any, did you do while writing your latest book? Did you interview anyone, read other books, etc.? The research I did was from studies that were conducted by universities about subconscious and subliminal communication. Also, the research comes from personal studies throughout the course of 25 years of working with people in many different aspects, not to mention my academic training in college. There wasn’t anyone specific that I interviewed, and the books are too large in number to mention, but tons of books, research and videos were utilized to expand on what I already know.

What were some of the challenges you faced on the road to publication? Well, finding enough time in the middle of running another business to dedicate to writing the book quickly. The other challenge was how to condense so much information in a way that is palatable and straightforward so that the average person who’s not aware of subconscious communication can follow along and begin to implement the strategies that I provide. You clearly have a passion for entrepreneurship. Along with being an author you’ve worked in personal fitness, the finance industry, and ministry, just to name a few. Where did your journey as an entrepreneur start? It started when I was 13 years old and I would collect bottles to recycle for a nickel at Central Park. From there I started to do simple tax returns for people in my neighborhood at the age of 16. In starting your own business, what would you say were the three biggest struggles you faced and how did you overcome them? The first struggle was understanding marketing. No one had ever taught me that. It’s something I had to learn through trial and error until I realized there were ways to learn it by just reading what other people had done. That was the first challenge. Another one was understanding how to communicate effectively with people, so they could understand what I was trying to say to them, and so I could also grasp what they wanted me to do for them. Finally, was taking a pulse on the needs people have. What are they in need of, what do they want? Because that changes all the time, you really must be on top of your game recognizing what people need. Those were the 3 biggest struggles I faced. But I overcame them by becoming a student of entrepreneurs, a student of success, a student of marketing, basically learning from whoever and wherever I could and then going out there and making a lot of mistakes.

What does it actually mean to be an author-entrepreneur as opposed to just an author? That’s a great question. An author/entrepreneur is someone who not only writes the book but has to go out and basically self-publish and self-promote, and create a marketing need for it. Its easy to write a book with a marketing company behind you who will promote the book. But when you’re the only one behind it, you need to be very effective at it. And that’s what an entrepreneur does. An entrepreneur is not afraid to take on challenges and not afraid to go at it alone when no one else is around. How does being an entrepreneur help you as an author? It helps me because I understand the value of being tenacious, setting aside time to stay focused, and being diligent on a goal that I set. It’s knowing at the end of the day that if its going to be successful, a lot of it has to do with what I put into it and what I make of it myself. An entrepreneur knows there’s no such thing as a handout, you’ve got to go out there and get it.

On a more personal note: Tell us a little about your “real” (non-writing) life — family, hobbies, etc. Well, I’m a family man, happily married and my wife works in my business with me; I have 3 kids ages 20, 18, and 8, and they are all budding entrepreneurs in their own way. My 20-year-old daughter has a photography business, my 18-year-old son has a personal fitness training business and my 8-year-old negotiates how much I have to pay him to get him to clean his room! He won’t do work me for anything less than $5 a task and even tries to sell me some of his toys! Ha-ha! As for what I enjoy doing when I’m not writing or speaking around the country, I really enjoy working out, and as a former bodybuilder a healthy lifestyle is a must. I love sports, reading and just spending time with my family. Are there any nuggets of wisdom you can impart to aspiring writers? Yes, get started! If you have a dream to write a book, or a thought to write a book, then get it started. Don’t wait for the right time, because there will never be a right time. Don’t wait for the right situation, there is no right situation. You just have to lock in on your thoughts and get writing. The more you write, the more fluent you become, and the more fluent you become, the better you write. It then becomes sort of a self-fulfilling, self-improvement, on-the-job training cycle. That would be the nugget of wisdom I’d give to aspiring writers. There are so many writers out there that I speak to that are aspiring, they have great ideas for books, but they never sit down and write them. The advice is to just start. Start with a paragraph. Start with one page and then commit daily to develop that writing muscle.

I have been in the people business to one degree or another since I was 15 years old. As a result, I have found that effective communication is necessary to excel in the art of persuasion, impression, and communication. However, so many fail miserably at the intended objective with another person simply because they are not communicating in a way that increases the probability of compliance. It is like going into combat with one arm tied behind your back. You must know how to communicate with the conscious as well as the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is where all decisions are made, yet the novice communicator focuses all his/her efforts communicating solely with the conscious mind.

This book will teach you how to elevate your communication skills to a level of Mastery by beginning to not only understand how to communicate with another person’s subconscious mind, but the actual techniques to achieve it. You will find this book to be an incredible gem in helping you achieve greater success in your personal communication efforts.
