A. RUTH PROCTOR SURVIVED AND IS WRITING ABOUT IT ALL!

A. Ruth Proctor is a woman of many titles. A Mother, a Serial Entrepreneur, and now the best selling author behind, “I SURVIVED; YOU CAN TOO”.

Placed in Foster care at the tender age of 6, Ruth was forced to make mature life adjustments at a very early age. Through a series of devastating events, including molestation, domestic violence, and infidelity, she developed tenacity, perseverance and a toolkit of survival skills that she shares with others in her latest book.

1. What is the key to success as an author you have found?

The key to success as an author is to stay consistent and find your audience. Learning your audience helps you to know whom you are talking to. Sticking to values and never giving up no matter how long it takes to complete.

2. Tell us about your new book "I SURVIVED; YOU CAN TOO"?

My new book “I Survived; You can too” is about a little girl that had survived traumatic events but rose to success! Growing up without my parents in foster care and later being adopted. Surviving molestation, domestic violence and infidelity while maintaining successful businesses and all while being a mom.

3. What was the hardest part about writing these stories and feelings?

The hardest part about writing these stories were reliving the past, writing about my childhood and memories of being alone and feeling abandoned. Feeling alone and worried what others would say about the book. Worrying about my message being conveyed correctly and helping others through my pain. I cried most days writing but it was gratifying as well. Writing was very therapeutic these past two years, while going through a divorce. Visualizing the pain in those moments was the hardest but hopefully my pain will help someone in a similar situation.

4. What do you hope people walk away with learning after reading?

I hope that people learn from reading my book is that you are not alone. I hope people learn that we all go through trauma differently but the goal is to survive. The goal is to survive and help someone else in a similar situation. Now I know part of my purpose is to help others dealing with that same pain, to know they have a voice and guide. Hopefully some of my survival tools will guide them to make better decisions. Hopefully my experiences guide that girl or boy to know they too can make it out of their environment.

5. Aside from your own, what authors and books are on your top reading list?

Some of the authors and books on my top reading list are:

Michelle Obama -Becoming

TD Jakes -Crushing

Deepak Chopra- The seven spiritual laws of success

6. What quote helps motivate you on a daily basis?

I live by Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me

7. Will we see a follow-up book in the future?

I do plan to have follow-up books including workbooks to help different ages. I plan to begin my book tour this spring. As well, speaking engagements across the country.
